Bracia David i Stephen Dewaele, czyli 2 Many Dj's aka Soulwax to moim skromnym zdaniem bezapelacyjni mistrzowie wkręcania ludzi w parkiet. Ich sety to petardy rzucane z oszałamiającą częstotliwością w zaskoczoną publiczność. Niezależnie czy grają dla kilkuset ludzi w małym klubie, czy dla kilkunastotysięcznych tłumów, 2 Many Dj's, jak również ich inne projekty - Soulwax, Radio Soulwax i Soulwax Nite Versions nigdy nie zawodzą. Miałem ogromną przyjemność oglądać i przeżywać ich występy trzy razy w różnych wcieleniach i miejscach - są absolutnie niedoścignionymi mistrzami bastard popu i post-punk electro. O czym można się również przekonać nie wychodząc z domu. W kwietniu ukazał się dokument o Soulwax w reżyserii Saama Farahmand pt. "Part of the Weekend Never Dies". Autor filmu nagrał kilkadziesiąt występów braci Dewaele i ich ekipy na całym świecie (w tym w Polsce!), wszedł z kamerą za kulisy, śledził trasę koncertową, udało mu się świetnie uchwycić prawdziwą ekstazę tłumów w zetknięciu z fantastycznym show w wykonaniu Belgów. O fenomenie 2 Many Dj's opowiadaja przyjaciele i znajomi ze sceny, czyli Justice, Tiga, LCD Soundsystem, Peaches, Kitsune, Klaxons i wielu innych. Mimo, iż film jest dość chaotyczny ogląda się go świetnie a fragmenty występów oglądane nawet w telewizorze dają przedsmak emocji jakich doświadcza się oglądając występy Soulwax na żywo. Na koniec przysłowie i życzenia dnia - Obyś raz w życiu zobaczył 2 Many Djs na żywo!
Brothers David and Stephen Dewaele, i.e. 2 Many Dj's aka Soulwax are IMHO absolute champions of party dancefloors. Their live sets are like bombs dropped with breath-taking frequency into the unsuspecting crowds. It does not matter whether they are playing for a few hundred people in a small club, or for thousands of ravers on open-air festivals, 2 Many Dj's, as well as their other projects - Soulwax, Radio Soulwax and Soulwax Nite Versions never fail. I had an extreme pleasure to see and feel their shows three times in various disguises and venues – they are unrivalled masters of bastard pop and post-punk electro. Now, one can prove my words without leaving a living room. A documentary about Soulwax shot by Saam Farahmand entitled "Part of the Weekend Never Dies" was released in April 2008. The author of the film recorded a few dozen shows of Dewaele Brothers and their band across the globe (including Poland!), his camera filmed backstage, he followed a concert tour of Soulwax Nite Versions, he managed to capture a real ecstasy of crowds when confronted with fantastic performance by the guys from Belgium. The phenomenon of 2 Many Dj's is analyzed by friends from the scene, namely Justice, Tiga, LCD Soundsystem, Peaches, Kitsune, Klaxons and many others. Despite the fact that the film is quite chaotic, watching it is still a great experience and fragments of shows even watched in a telly give a real foretaste of emotions caused by Soulwax live performance. And now a proverb and a wish of the day – May you see 2 Many Djs live at least once in your lifetime!
